Welcome to the REDI Region – Economic Development in Northwest Alberta
The Regional Economic Development Initiative Association for Northwest Alberta (REDI) formed in 2002 exists to promote and enhance economic growth amongst its member communities and to promote the region as a whole, rather than as individual communities.
REDI is geographically located in the far northwest portion of Alberta and is located within Mackenzie County and the Métis settlement of Paddle Prairie.
REDI has a population of more than 24,000 residents. The main source of revenue for REDI is from annual membership fees and government partner funding. REDI is registered as a society under The Societies Act of Alberta in the name of Regional Economic Development Initiative Association for Northwestern Alberta.
Vision
REDI will be the region of choice for current and future generations. We will boast a sustained and diversified economy that creates prosperity and opportunity for all residents.
REDI will achieve this vision through a vibrant economy that capitalizes on abundant natural resources, promotes strong business relationships, and supports cooperative partnerships.
Mission
To promote, support and enhance economic growth and diversification in northwest Alberta through regional cooperation and partnerships.
“The REDI region is, in a word, incredible! Located in the northwest part of Alberta, our region is full of diversity. From the bustling oil and gas and forestry industries to our long-standing agricultural base to an ever-growing retail sector, the REDI region has it all.
Vibrant communities with dynamic individuals round out the region as an incredible place to live, visit and work. Our location on the doorstep of the Northwest Territories and at the south end of the proposed Mackenzie Pipeline provides even greater opportunities for this area — opportunities REDI plans to capitalize on.
We are REDI and waiting to welcome you to explore, live and work in this incredible region!”
